Executive says VKontakte wants to launch marketplace for NFTs
MOSCOW, May 13 (PRIME) -- Russian social network VKontakte is turning into a metaverse and plans to create a marketplace to sell non-fungible tokens (NFTs), where users will be able to sell their unique items, like stickers, Technical Director Alexander Tobol said on Friday.
“On the whole, we’re moving toward metaverses. We see it differently. We have started with NFT, from protection of author content, monetization of author content, and we believe VKontakte should become the main service-provider of access to NFT in Russia and the CIS…We would like to be a marketplace to offer you a choice between various blockchains,” Tobol said.
VKontakte works on different scenarios to protect content of its users and earn on this content, he added.
